Arrowood Retreat Center & Camp

History:
James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

As we near the first anniversary of Camp Arrowood and we all continue to pray for the camp and the giving of our time and resources to it, we wanted to share some the many blessings that have come from this ministry.
Pastor Ron was first led by the Spirit to take on this venture of planting a camp in August 2019 when he and our church youth attended what turned out to be the last year of operation of Headwaters Lodge in Virginia. This camp was a Calvary Chapel affiliated summer camp and had been in operation for 30 years. While they were still in Virginia at the camp, Pastor Ron contacted church leadership to begin the process of looking for camps or land to purchase.

We reached out to 3 real estate brokers to assist us in our search and received response from only one. This gentleman was not only familiar with the area where we were looking, but was an Evangelical Christian and was the leader of a hunting and fishing club for kids. Perfect! Just what we needed. Praise God. He set up 8 properties for the search team to look at over two days. The very first property that we viewed was 488 Harris Rd. in Chesnee, SC. None of the remaining properties compared to the first. It was decided by Pastor Ron and church leadership to make an offer on the Chesnee property. We are blessed that one of our Elder is a real estate attorney. Perfect! Just what we needed. Praise God. The broker worked hard on getting us this site including taking a lesser commission
and getting the sellers to owner finance with a no interest loan! Perfect! Just what we needed, praise God.
After closing on the property, the HVAC system was straining but we have an HVAC guy in the church and he fixed it. Perfect! Just what we needed. Praise God. Then, while plotting out the buildings, we realized we needed to have a plan for additional septic systems. We have someone in the church who specializes in that. Perfect! Just what we needed. Praise God.

The barn is being converted into the dining hall and because of the way it’s situated on the hill, the view needs to be the focal point, but commercial safety glass is very costly. Oh, we have someone in the church who can get it to us at cost. Perfect! Just what we needed. Praise God! Now we need to add water lines for all the extra buildings. A very costly venture with each run of over 4000 feet of pipe from meter to building. Guess what – yes – we have someone in church who works at a commercial plumbing supply house and we are getting what we need at a huge discount. Perfect! Just what we needed. Praise God. And then there are all the people who are consistently spending 3-4 days a week up there working on these projects. Folks who are sharing their skills in landscaping, construction, equipment operators, etc. Perfect! Just what we needed. Praise God.

As Pastor Ron mentioned recently, we are purchasing an additional 5 acre site. Pastor marked up a plat map of lots we needed to try to acquire. There were 6 potential lots but he indicated that a particular lot would be the best one for our needs. Letters of interest were sent out to each individual land owner and one week after sending them out, one response came back. Yes, it was the ideal site we had prayed for! We made contact and negotiated a price and terms. The seller is a deacon in his church. He has owned the property since 1973 and had done nothing with it. He told us that realtors have been hounding him for years to list it but he held off. He sold it to CCMB at a generous discount. He also disclosed that he planned on tithing the proceeds to his church. By acquiring this lot we are able to utilize the 40 acres on the other side of the creek. This will add a second access
and additional utility feeds. Perfect! Just what we needed. Praise God.

We wanted to share this with you all to show how God is working and leading our pastor in this vision and to be blessed by seeing what He is providing. This is a huge venture that has been laid upon this small church and to see each hurdle met is a blessing.

We give Him all the glory, Amen! More to come

Philippians 4:19-20
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by
Christ Jesus. Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.
